- Why This Trip Matters
- Itinerary
At Luxnomad Travels, we design every experience to do more than just check off a destination. We create trips that leave a spark.
Morocco is a place that lingers. With its maze-like medinas, sweeping deserts, mountain roads, and centuries of layered history, it offers more than photo ops, it invites presence. It asks you to slow down, listen, taste, and take it all in. From sipping mint tea in a quiet riad to winding through vibrant souks or watching the sunset over the dunes, Morocco has a way of meeting you right where you are, and nudging you somewhere deeper.
Traveling by road lets Morocco unfold slowly, with soul, depth, and beauty. By journeying through the country by road, you’ll see its true heart unfold. Each stop brings a new rhythm, a new perspective. This way of traveling gives space for connection to the land, the culture, and the people around you. It’s not rushed. It’s not surface-level. It’s intentional.
We believe the best experiences aren’t always planned; they’re found in the in-between moments, the unexpected conversations, the shared music on long drives, and the feeling of finally breathing out. This is travel that ignites beyond the journey, and we can’t wait for you to feel it.
Day 1 – Welcome to Morocco!
Touchdown, City Beats & Coastal Breezes: Your Moroccan road trip begins in Casablanca, a city where bold energy meets coastal ease. After airport pickup, we’ll take time to explore its modern heart: think wide boulevards, seaside strolls along the Corniche, and a visit to the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque perched over the Atlantic. After soaking up the city’s pulse, we’ll head to Rabat for the night, where a welcome dinner awaits and the journey officially begins.
Approx. Drive Time: 2 hours
Day 2 – From Imperial Grandeur to Mountain Magic
Today begins in Rabat, Morocco’s stately capital, where centuries of history meet coastal charm. With your local guide leading the way, you’ll wander through the walled beauty of the Oudaia Kasbah, a fortress-within-a-city that feels like stepping into another time. You’ll visit the striking Mausoleum of Mohammed V and stand beneath the towering remnants of Hassan Tower, an ambitious dream of what was meant to be the world’s largest mosque. One of the most fascinating stops is the Chellah Necropolis, a site layered with both Roman and Islamic ruins that quietly whisper stories of Morocco’s complex past.
We’ll journey through the scenic Riff Mountains, trading the imperial cityscape for the soft blue hues of Chefchaouen. Snuggled against the hillside, this postcard-perfect town greets us with cobblestone charm, cool mountain air, and a sense of calm that feels like a dream.
Approx. Drive Time: 4 hours
Day 3 – Shades of Blue and Stories Untold
After breakfast, we’ll explore the magic of Chefchaouen (The Blue City), a city painted in dreamy blues and tucked into the mountains. With deep Andalusian roots, this hillside haven became a refuge during the Spanish Inquisition, and its quiet streets still carry that sense of resilience and beauty. You’ll join a guided walk through the medina, stop at Ras El-Ma where the mountain spring bubbles into town, and take in sweeping views during a short hike to the old “Spanish” mosque overlooking the valley.
Later, you’ll have plenty of time to wander on your own, browsing for handmade goods, capturing the iconic blue alleyways, or settling into a peaceful café with a Moroccan mint tea in hand. As the sun dips behind the hills, we’ll begin our journey to the historic city of Fes, where a new chapter of discovery awaits.
Approx. Drive Time: 4 hours
Day 4 – The Cultural Heartbeat of Morocco
Today, we explore Fes, a city that feels like a living museum. Its walled medina is one of the most complete medieval Islamic cities in the world, with narrow alleyways, sky-high walls, and a deep sense of history in every step.
Our guided walking tour takes you through the heart of it all. You’ll visit Place an-Nejjarine with its beautiful fountain and historic caravanserai, stroll past 14th-century merchant stalls, and see the striking dye pits of the city’s iconic tanneries. We’ll pass the grand Qayrawan Mosque and wander through spice-filled souks where the scent of saffron and rose water lingers in the air. The day also includes time to explore at your own pace, whether that’s shopping, relaxing at a café, or simply soaking in the energy of this unforgettable city.
Day 5 – From Mountains to Golden Dunes
We’ll hit the road early today for one of the most scenic drives of the trip, and trust us, it’s worth every mile. From the cool cedar forests of the Middle Atlas to the palm-dotted valleys of the south, you’ll watch Morocco’s landscapes shift in real time. Along the way, we’ll make stops in Ifrane (nicknamed “Little Switzerland”), pass through the charming towns of Midelt and Erfoud, and wind down through the breathtaking Ziz Valley.
By late afternoon, we’ll reach Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara. Here, we’ll trade wheels for camels and head off into the dunes caravan-style, led by local Berber guides. As the sun begins to set, you’ll arrive at your private tented camp tucked in the sand, with the stars above and silence all around.
Approx. Drive Time: 7–8 hours (with scenic stops)
Day 6 – Soulful Rhythms + Desert Roads
After breakfast, we’ll trade our desert camp for 4x4s and make our way back to Merzouga to reconnect with our driver. Along the route, we’ll stop in Khamlia Village, home to the Gnawa people, descendants of West African communities brought to Morocco generations ago through the trans-Saharan slave trade. Through music and sacred rhythm, they’ve preserved their culture and history, and we’ll get a chance to witness a powerful performance rooted in healing and heritage.
From there, we’ll continue our drive toward the lush Draa Valley, lined with date palms and ancient kasbahs, where we’ll spend the night surrounded by desert charm and peaceful stillness.
Approx. Drive Time: 4.5 hours
Day 7 – Ancient Walls + Epic Mountain Roads
After breakfast, we’ll journey west toward Ouarzazate, known as the “Door to the Desert,” and stop at the iconic Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that feels frozen in time. This earthen fortress has been the backdrop for films like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Mummy. Walking through its narrow passageways, it’s easy to imagine the stories this place has held over centuries of trade and tradition.
From there, we’ll head toward Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The winding drive is one of the most scenic in the country, offering sweeping views of terraced valleys, Berber villages, and, depending on the season, snow-dusted peaks.
Approx. Drive Time: 4 hours
Day 8 – Marrakech Medina & Majorelle Garden
After breakfast, we’ll start the day with a guided walk through the heart of Marrakech’s medina, a lively maze where cars give way to the decadent sounds and colors of the old city. You’ll explore the Saadian Tombs, rich with elaborate decoration, then wander the majestic ruins of the El Badi Palace, once built with priceless materials like onyx, gold, and marble.
Next, we’ll stroll through the Jewish quarter’s market and pause outside the Koutoubia Mosque, its iconic minaret standing guard over the city for 800 years. After soaking in the sights of the medina, we’ll head to the peaceful Majorelle Garden, a stunning oasis of vibrant blue and lush greenery. (Be sure to grab your tickets online ahead of time!)
Day 9 – Marrakech at Your Own Pace
Today is all about you. Whether you want to float above the Atlas Mountains in a hot air balloon, unwind with a spa day, dive into a hands-on cooking class, or lose yourself again in the vibrant medina’s shops and cafes, this day is yours to shape however you like.
Enjoy the freedom to explore, relax, and soak in Marrakech on your own terms.
Day 10 – Farewell
All great things must come to an end, but only until our next LNT experience. You’ll be transferred to Marrakech Menara Airport, where you’ll say your “safe travels” to your new LuxNomad Travel friends and a heartfelt “goodbye” to the enchanting city of Morocco!

- Trip FAQ
- Booking Terms
This experience is moderately to highly active, with plenty of walking and some longer drives to fully experience Morocco’s diverse landscapes. It is designed for travelers who enjoy exploring with energy and curiosity. Expect several days of walking, sometimes up to 5 miles, often in warm weather, as we dive deep into rich cities and historic sites. Morocco is a big, beautiful country, so there’s quite a bit of driving involved, including some long stretches of 7 to 9 hours as we make our way across diverse landscapes. While the drives can be long, they’re part of the adventure, connecting you to incredible sights that many tours skip. Please note that all activities are part of the full experience, and opting out won’t affect your trip cost. This journey is what you make of it, and it’s crafted to be rich, exciting, and unforgettable.
Accommodations
This trip offers two rooming options: double occupancy and single occupancy. If you’re traveling solo and select double occupancy, we’ll pair you with another traveler based on your preferences. If you haven’t been matched with a roommate 90 days before the trip, the single occupancy supplement will apply. This fee can be split into even payments and must be paid in full 30 days before departure. If you’re traveling with a friend, let us know during registration so we can room you together.
Please note: Some of our stays include riads, traditional Moroccan guesthouses known for their intricate architecture, cozy courtyards, and local charm. These are part of what makes traveling through Morocco so special. Riads are not cookie-cutter hotels, and room layouts or amenities may vary. It’s all part of the experience — and we think you’ll love it.
Male Travelers
We’re proud to welcome both men and women on our trips. However, due to the typical guest makeup, our groups often have a higher ratio of female travelers. If you’re a male guest traveling solo, you’ll be required to book a single occupancy package to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for everyone. If you’re traveling with a friend and wish to room together, double occupancy is absolutely welcome, just be sure to indicate this in your registration.
Airfare
This trip requires you to fly into Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) and depart from Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). Please note that international airfare is not included in your trip package. Our team will provide detailed travel guidance once your registration is complete, including ideal flight times and booking tips. We kindly ask that you wait to book your flights until you receive our email with exact instructions to ensure your travel aligns smoothly with the trip itinerary.
Meals
You’ll enjoy 9 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 2 delicious dinners throughout the trip. Unless otherwise noted, all included meals come with water. Soft drinks and alcohol are not included unless specifically stated.
We’ll savor the rich, fragrant flavors of Moroccan cuisine, from traditional tagines and freshly baked bread to shared meals full of spices, herbs, and bold tastes. Our itinerary highlights authentic local dining experiences, so meals will reflect the region’s culture and may not always include many Western-style options. While we’re happy to accommodate dietary needs when possible, we encourage guests to come with an open heart and adventurous palate. If you prefer very familiar or limited foods, this trip might be challenging.
Important Note: Tips are not included in your trip price. Please plan to budget $100 to $150 USD for tipping local staff and service teams. Our partners play a big role in making this experience special, and we want to honor their hard work appropriately. Your trip host will collect tips from you at the end of the trip. If tipping is a concern, this may not be the right experience for you.
Travel Documents
Guests must hold a passport to enter this country with at least six months of validity from the last day of the trip, in addition to two blank pages. The airlines may deny travel, in addition to country officials may refuse entry if these requirements are not met. Responsibility for proper passport verification lies solely with the guest.
Visa
For U.S. citizens, a visa is not required for stays in Morocco of up to 90 days for tourism purposes. You may be asked to show proof of onward travel.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a short-term policy that protects the health of a traveler and their financial investment in a trip. It may include coverage for lost baggage, trip cancellation, flight accidents, and/or other losses incurred before or while traveling. Should your trip be canceled or interrupted for a covered reason, a travel insurance policy will reimburse you for the eligible prepaid and non-refundable portions of your trip.
We hope that all of our guests can accompany us on this experience. Unfortunately, circumstances can arise that could cause you to cancel or interrupt your trip. We understand how disappointing it is to be forced to cancel your trip before departing. To avoid financial and emotional anxiety, we recommend guests purchase travel insurance immediately upon registration. We’ve partnered with Safety Wing to make it easier for you to obtain. Get a FREE quote here. Additionally, travelers should make sure their health insurance plan covers them when outside of the United States. LNT is not responsible for medical expenses accrued while abroad, should any incident occur.
Trip Payment & Payment Plans
Each trip and destination is specially curated and therefore offers a unique payment plan. If you are unable to pay the full amount upfront, monthly payments are available. Just secure your trip with your down payment and then the remaining payments start the following month on the same day of each month.
Please note: All payments are subject to a processing fee
Refund & Cancellation Policy All guests (with the exception of special promotion bookings) have 24 hours from the time of booking to cancel a trip for a full refund. After the 24-hour booking period, all trip deposits are non-refundable.
Any cancellation of a booking by a guest must be delivered to LNT in writing and be acknowledged by LNT in writing. For an abundance of clarity and to avoid any miscommunication, we will not consider a reservation canceled until we receive an email from you. In the unfortunate circumstance that you need to cancel your trip, based on the date you notify us by email of the cancellation, we will refund the balance, less the deposit and the following fees per trip:
Number of Days Prior to Trip | Trip Cancellation Fee |
200+ days | 50% non-refundable |
0 – 199 | 100% non-refundable |
Special Deposit Promotion: All trip sales are final. New registrations made during any $99 or half-off deposit offer are ineligible for a refund/trip transfer. All payments made are nonrefundable.
Although we recommend travel insurance to ensure you are protected in the event of a medical or family emergency we encourage you to opt for the “cancel for any reason” coverage, specifically. Should you need to recover any of your non-refundable expenses, you can file a claim with your travel insurance.

Overall, an amazing trip and experience with a good group of people! I will be telling people about this trip months from now. I normally wouldn’t return to a country, because there are so many other countries to visit, but I will be going back to Morocco.

I loved everything about this trip! I loved the activities that were scheduled, I loved all the 3rd party vendors that were used. I loved the honesty from our host as to whether she liked what she planned for the trip or if she felt like she needed to restructure things for the next trip. I loved the people who were on the trip, everything was well planned and executed. The host was very accommodating and led us through our trip every step of the way. I give the trip and experience 5 stars, and I can’t wait until my next one.
