- Why This Trip Matters
- Itinerary
At Luxnomad Travels, we design every experience to do more than just check off a destination. We create trips that leave a spark.
Japan is a place that transforms. With its ancient temples nestled between gleaming skyscrapers, cherry blossoms blooming over bullet trains, and a culture that honors both tradition and innovation, it offers more than sightseeing; it invites awakening. From participating in centuries-old tea ceremonies to go-karting through Tokyo’s neon streets, Japan has a way of meeting you exactly where you are and gently guiding you toward who you’re becoming.
Traveling mindfully lets Japan’s wisdom unfold naturally, with depth, intention, and grace. By moving through this country with conscious presence, you’ll discover its true essence. Each temple visit becomes meditation, each meal becomes a ceremony, each interaction becomes a connection. This way of experiencing Japan creates space for genuine cultural exchange, personal reflection, and the kind of transformation that only comes when you engage with intention rather than rush through experiences.
We believe the best experiences aren’t always planned; they’re found in the in-between moments, the unexpected conversations, the shared music on long drives, and the feeling of finally breathing out. This is travel that ignites beyond the journey, and we can’t wait for you to feel it.
Day 1 – Welcome to Japan!
Your Japan journey begins the moment you step off the plane at Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND), where our local driver awaits with a warm welcome to guide you through Tokyo’s sprawling embrace to your hotel. After settling in, we gather for our first meal together, sharing food in a place where every meal is an art form. Tonight’s welcome dinner brings together fellow travelers, intentions for the week ahead, and those first conscious breaths in a culture that will teach you as much about slowing down as it will about discovery.
Day 2 – Old Soul, New Pulse
Tokyo reveals its beautiful contradictions as we journey from the ancient heart of Asakusa, where Senso-ji Temple has welcomed pilgrims for over a thousand years, to the electric energy of modern Shibuya. Walk the timeworn stones of Nakamise Street, then roll your sleeves up for a sushi-making class that becomes both an art lesson and lunch, guided by hands that have perfected this craft. Later, you’ll stand amid the organized chaos of Shibuya Crossing, witness the loyal spirit of Hachiko, and rise above it all at Shibuya Sky for a view that puts the vastness of this city into perspective. End in the wonderfully wild creativity of Harajuku’s Takeshita Street, where Tokyo’s youth express themselves in ways that remind you that tradition and innovation aren’t opposites: they’re dance partners.
Day 3 – Art, Craft, and Pure Joy
Today, Tokyo becomes your playground of wonder and whimsy. Begin at TeamLab Planets, where digital art transforms around your every step, walking through water, floating in space, becoming part of the canvas itself. Then it’s time to see Tokyo from street level in the most unexpectedly delightful way: go-karting through the city streets, where the urban landscape becomes your racetrack and laughter becomes your soundtrack. As evening falls, Odaiba’s waterfront opens up like a peaceful exhale, bay views stretching toward tomorrow, local flavors calling from every corner, and the satisfaction of a day that balanced art, adventure, and pure, unfiltered fun.
Day 4 – Sacred Mountain, Sacred Moments
Journey beyond Tokyo’s pulse to where Japan’s most sacred mountain holds court over pristine lakes and ancient springs. At Oishi Park along Lake Kawaguchi, Mount Fuji reveals herself in all her quiet majesty: a reminder that some beauty requires no explanation, only presence. After lunch, discover Oshino Hakkai, where eight crystal-clear ponds fed by Fuji’s snowmelt have been recognized by UNESCO for their pure, untouched wonder. The day softens into evening at Gotemba Premium Outlets, where mountain views meet modern comforts, and you can savor both local flavors and the simple pleasure of browsing beneath Fuji’s watchful gaze. Sometimes the most profound experiences come not from doing, but from being, and today, you’ll understand what the Japanese mean when they speak of mono no aware, the gentle awareness of life’s fleeting beauty.
Day 5 – Between Worlds
After breakfast, Tokyo bids you farewell as you board the legendary Shinkansen: Japan’s bullet train that transforms travel itself into poetry in motion. Watch the countryside blur past at impossible speeds, Mount Fuji appearing and disappearing like a gentle dream, until ancient Kyoto welcomes you with open arms. Check into your new home base, then step out into a city where every street corner whispers stories of emperors and artisans, temples and tea ceremonies. Tonight is yours to wander, perhaps following the soft glow of lanterns down narrow alleys, stumbling upon a hidden ramen shop, or simply sitting in a quiet temple garden as evening settles over this former imperial capital. In Kyoto, getting lost is just another way of finding yourself.
Day 6 – Stepping Into Timeless Grace
After breakfast, slip into the flowing silk of a traditional kimono and feel how clothing can become ceremony, how fabric can connect you to centuries of ritual and grace. Dressed in these beautiful garments, walk the cobblestone paths to Kiyomizu-dera temple, where wooden halls have welcomed pilgrims for over 1,200 years, then meander down the historic charm of Sannenzaka and Ninnenzaka streets, where every shop seems to hold secrets from another era. Following lunch, participate in the meditative art of a tea ceremony at a local tea house, where each gesture carries meaning and every sip invites presence. The afternoon takes you through Arashiyama’s towering bamboo grove. This natural cathedral filters light into something almost sacred, before ending at Fushimi Inari Shrine, where thousands of vermilion torii gates create tunnels of prayer ascending the mountainside, each one a wish, a hope, a connection between earth and sky.
Day 7 – Choose Your Own Adventure + Farewell Feast
After breakfast, today unfolds exactly as your heart calls it to: perhaps diving into the magical chaos of Universal Studios Japan, or staying in Kyoto’s embrace for temple gardens, quiet shopping, and spontaneous discoveries down winding streets. Whatever path you choose, all roads lead to Osaka’s legendary Dotonbori district as evening falls. Here, neon signs dance on canal waters, street food vendors call out in cheerful chaos, and the energy of Japan’s kitchen pulses through every corner. This is where we gather for our farewell dinner, not in a quiet restaurant, but immersed in the beautiful madness of one of Asia’s greatest food districts. Share takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and stories of the week that’s transformed you, surrounded by the lights and laughter that make Dotonbori unforgettable. Tonight, we celebrate not just incredible food, but the connections forged and the travelers you’ve become.
Day 8 – Until We Meet Again
After breakfast and check-out, the journey that began with the first steps in Tokyo comes full circle with your transfer to Kansai International Airport (KIX). As familiar landscapes pass by one final time, you carry with you more than souvenirs; you carry moments that shifted something inside, connections that transcend distance, and a piece of Japan that will travel with you long after you’ve returned home.

Accommodations
This trip offers two rooming options: double occupancy and single occupancy. If you’re traveling solo and select double occupancy, we’ll pair you with another traveler based on your preferences.
Male Travelers

If you’re a male guest traveling solo, you’ll be required to book a single occupancy package to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for everyone. If you’re traveling with a friend and wish to room together, double occupancy is absolutely welcome, just be sure to indicate this in your registration.

This trip requires you to fly into Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) and depart from Kansai International Airport (KIX).
Please note that international airfare is not included in your trip package. While we’re happy to accommodate dietary needs when possible, we encourage guests to come with an open mind. If you’re a very selective eater or have a rigid palate, this may not be the best fit.
Most lunches aren’t included because Japan’s incredible food culture is best experienced when you have the freedom to discover what calls to you in the moment. With our packed itinerary moving between cities and cultural experiences, having flexible lunch breaks allows everyone to choose meals that suit their tastes, dietary needs, and energy levels while keeping the trip affordable and authentic to how locals actually eat throughout their day.
Important Note: Tips are not included in your trip price. Please plan to budget $100 to $150 USD for tipping local staff and service teams. If tipping is a concern, this may not be the right experience for you.
Activities
This experience is designed for travelers who seek cultural immersion over passive sightseeing and are excited to participate in hands-on experiences like sushi-making, tea ceremonies, and exploring both ancient temples and modern districts on foot.
Overall, this trip is considered moderately active. You should be comfortable walking up to 3-4 miles on most days, sometimes on uneven temple grounds, cobblestone streets, and through busy urban areas, and participating in group activities that may involve standing for extended periods during cultural experiences. This is a full-immersion itinerary with structured activities from morning to evening most days: perfect for travelers who want to maximize their Japan experience but may not suit those seeking leisurely downtime.
Please note: Opting out of any activity will not result in a refund. Your experience is what you make of it, and we’ve built this itinerary to be equal parts meaningful, exciting, and unforgettable.
Travel Documents
Guests must hold a passport to enter this country with at least six months of validity from the last day of the trip, in addition to two blank pages. The airlines may deny travel, and country officials may refuse entry if these requirements are not met. Responsibility for proper passport verification lies solely with the guest.
Visa
For U.S. citizens, a visa is not required for stays in Japan of up to 90 days for tourism purposes. You may be asked to show proof of onward travel and return flights upon arrival.
Mario Kart Go-Kart
Each participant must provide a valid International Driver’s License (IDL) accompanied by their home country driver’s license. This can be obtained at your local AAA office. Additionally, a passport is required for identification at check-in.
Please note that participants must meet the minimum age (18 years old) and height (150 cm, approximately 4 feet 11 inches) requirements for safety, and instructors will conduct a safety briefing prior to the experience. Failure to comply with documentation or safety requirements may result in exclusion from the activity.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a short-term policy that protects the health of a traveler and their financial investment in a trip. It may include coverage for lost baggage, trip cancellation, flight accidents, and/or other losses incurred before or while traveling. Should your trip be canceled or interrupted for a covered reason, a travel insurance policy will reimburse you for the eligible prepaid and non-refundable portions of your trip. Medical coverage is equally important; even simple incidents like stepping off a sidewalk wrong and spraining an ankle, or experiencing food sensitivity, can result in unexpected medical expenses abroad that your domestic health insurance may not cover.
We hope that all of our guests can accompany us on this experience. Unfortunately, circumstances can arise that could cause you to cancel or interrupt your trip. We understand how disappointing it is to be forced to cancel your trip before departing. To avoid financial and emotional anxiety, we recommend guests purchase travel insurance immediately upon registration. We’ve partnered with Faye Travel Insurance to make it easier for you to obtain. Get a FREE quote here. Additionally, travelers should make sure their health insurance plan covers them when outside of the United States. Ember & Co. is not responsible for medical expenses accrued while abroad, should an incident occur.
Trip Payment & Payment Plans
Each trip and destination is specially curated and therefore offers a unique payment plan. If you are unable to pay the full amount upfront, monthly payments are available. Just secure your trip with your down payment, and then the remaining payments start the following month on the same day of each month.
Please note: All payments and refunds are subject to a processing fee.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Life happens, and sometimes plans change. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@luxnomadtravels.com and acknowledged by Ember & Co in writing. To avoid any miscommunication, your reservation will not be considered canceled until we receive and confirm receipt of your email request. Here’s how our cancellation policy works:
All guests (with the exception of special promotion bookings) have 24 hours from the time of booking to cancel a trip for a full refund. After the 24-hour booking period, all trip deposits are non-refundable.
In the unfortunate circumstance that you need to cancel your trip, based on the date you notify us by email of the cancellation, we will refund the balance, less the deposit and the following fees per trip:
| Number of Days Prior to Trip | Trip Cancellation Fee |
| 200+ days | 50% non-refundable |
| 0 – 199 | 100% non-refundable |
Special Deposit Promotion: All trip sales are final. If you booked during a $99 deposit or half-off deposit promotion, all payments made toward your trip are final—no refunds or transfers at any time. The standard refund policy timelines (200+ days, 0-199 days) do not apply to promotional bookings. This allows us to secure your experience with our vendors at the discounted rate.
Although we recommend travel insurance to ensure you are protected in the event of a medical or family emergency, we encourage you to opt for the “cancel for any reason” coverage, specifically. Should you need to recover any of your non-refundable expenses, you can file a claim with your travel insurance.

Overall, an amazing trip and experience with a good group of people! I will be telling people about this trip months from now. I normally wouldn’t return to a country, because there are so many other countries to visit, but I will be going back to Morocco.

I loved everything about this trip! I loved the activities that were scheduled, I loved all the 3rd party vendors that were used. I loved the honesty from our host as to whether she liked what she planned for the trip or if she felt like she needed to restructure things for the next trip. I loved the people who were on the trip, everything was well planned and executed. The host was very accommodating and led us through our trip every step of the way. I give the trip and experience 5 stars, and I can’t wait until my next one.
